I have to be honest, the game's released a day ago, but for a Moonton game, it actually is decent. Not a big fan of Moonton's other games due to the company's bad reputation of plagiarism, but this game actually interested me and I'm cautious about Moonton's plagiarism cases. Here's my review of the game.
The character designs, cutscenes, artstyle, and ultimate animations are AMAZING. In every cutscene that's shown when playing the Main Story, everything is animated. It's like you're watching an anime season of Silver and Blood. My favorites right now are Empouza and Starry-Eyed Aiona (the Aiona alter basically) because of how they were designed.
Developers give out a lot of pulls; there's literally an event where you get 80 pulls in total for free when finishing all the Main Story chapters! Not to mention this is the one of those gacha games that actually show blood when in combat.
The voice acting is also really splendid! Not sure if it's just me but a few lines are not voiced for some reason in the Main Story...? I'm not sure why, I'm playing the JP dub and this happens. Either way, the VAs are really good at voice acting their parts.
The gameplay though... I'm not a big fan of auto battling combat systems. It could've been better if the combat had any strategy systems that require brain usage, but it is what it is.
Overall, this is a 7/10 for me. I really like this game and I might stay for a while. I'll update this when I go through the rest of the story.
Don't get me wrong, but this game has always been my favorite game from Hoyoverse. I do have to admit that there are some concerns I want to address:
1. The storyline from Penacony to Amphoreus.
I get that the dialogues and chatting have gotten way longer unlike the storylines in the Xianshou Luofu and Jarilo VI, but I've seen people complain about how long Penacony and Amphoreus' storyline due to excessive chattering and lore dumping. It could've been better if Hoyoverse themselves could just add a skip button for every story. If other gachas I play (Morimens, Echoes of Vision, Cookie Run: Kingdom, etc.) added a skip button for every story, why can't Hoyoverse do it?
2. The Relic Systems.
Honestly, I am having a hard time finding decent relics for my units. I always get Effect Res or Def substats, and not the Crit DMG/Crit Rate and ATK substats for my main DPSes (I mainly use Acheron and Castorice for that matter). There could've been an option to refresh every substat in a Relic, but I don't even know if Hoyoverse will ever plan on changing how Relic substats will appear.
3. The Powercreep.
I've seen a lot of people complain about this. Everytime a new unit is released, an older one gets powercreeped. This isn't much of a game problem, rather a problem some players are angry about. You can just play and pull for the units you like the most in Honkai: Star Rail even if they're not meta. You can still clear endgame content with Seele or Yanqing, or anyone else you like in this game.
TL;DR: All story content needs to have a skip button in order to prevent boredom and wasting time. Relic systems need to be improved on. And you can still play the units you like and not follow meta if you are afraid of powercreep.
As much as I like this game, Hoyoverse really needs to add these options so players can just enjoy the game without facing any constant trouble and frustration. I hope Hoyoverse doesn't make this game any worse.
I didn't notice that Echoes of Vision would appear in QooApp until yesterday, so I decided to play this and give my opinions on this game here as a new player:
Character Designs: 10/10
I love how majority of these characters are from different regions. The way the character artists designed these guys kinda remind me of Reverse: 1999's characters. There are not only humans, but robots, and even furries aswell! This game is one of the gachas I know that can create amazing designs.
Gameplay: 7/10
Not gonna lie, tactical defense isn't my cup of tea. I kinda dropped Girls' Frontline 2, but I picked this up despite not being a Girls' Frontline series fan. It's kinda hard to understand what to do at first mainly because I don't understand Chinese, but with the visuals and all, I can somehow follow and figure out what do I do. There's also a skip button which you can skip the Enemy's Turn part, and it's really neat because most gachas don't have that. If you're not a fan of tactical defense gachas, pass on this one.
Storywriting and Dialogues: ?/10
I can't rate this part because there's no option to change the language to English or anything. I'm in Chapter 1 right now and finished Chapter 0 earlier on. Based on what I assume while playing Chapter 0, you're basically a detective who lost their memory (?) and then meet up with a redhead girl with pigtails in a car that takes you to an abandoned mall filled with monsters. You meet Gracey, Vulpes, Id Astro, Nightingale, and Steele in different places and fight against corrupted enemies who have taken over the abandoned mall all to accompany with a TV Screen with a face coming out of it. I can't really say anything on how the developers wrote the dialogues because I'm certain that I'm in a language barrier right now, so I'll leave this blank. If a Global release is planned, I'll probably update this review.
Music and Sound Design: 10/10
Nothing beats the Lobby music when you login the game. I'm really enjoying the vibes of that.
Devs' Generosity: 6/10
This might be a bit of a problem for me, but when I first got to the lobby, I can't really see any free rewards in the mailbox for some reason... why is it like this? Usually, in other gachas, the devs would reward every new player with free pulls and a free character. This is the first time I didn't recieve any mail rewards. The daily login and other necessary rewards do make up the missing mail rewards, but I still wished I had those.
Overall: 7.5/10.
TL;DR: The BGM and character designs are terrific, gameplay won't really be for everyone, and I have no clue where did the mail rewards go. If you want a Girls' Frontline 2-inspired game mixed with Reverse: 1999 aesthetics, this is for you. I really hope this game does a Global release because I wanna see if the storywriting is good for my tastes
P.S.: If you want, here's my UID if you want to follow :]
