This game exactly caught my attention when I accidentally clicked on a video of an OST of another game developed by ProjectMoon, Library of Ruina. When I saw it was released few days ago, I had to play it.
Overall? Its good. Despite being a gacha game (which I dont mind), this game actually doesn't punish you for being F2P. One thing is for certain, I wouldnt recommended if you feel slightly unease with the gruesome scenes and sounds. Hella detailed.
My review will be filled with both my opinions and my advices for new players! Will not provided spoilers.
Graphics: Its attracts me. They really changed their art style from Lobotomy Corporation to Limbus Company. Not only that, the hand drawn style like art reminds me of popular games with dark horror to it. Every character aka 'Sinners' are designed according to their philosophical or character origin/story (i.e Gregor from the book The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka or Don Quixote from the book Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes)
Sound: Damn the SOUND IS GOOD- The songs are so good and at the end of each chapter, one of the character's will sing the ending song, just like a drama! Not only that, the battle music is bumping insane. Also, the sfx might be a bit loud so remember to lower it down to your preference.
Gameplay: Mobile-wise, its lacking because I play this game using my laptop. This game is luckily free on PC, Android and iOS. Comparing to playing mobile, I really suggest playing on PC. But, the gameplay overall kinda gets complicated IF you did skip the tutorial.
Please, dont skip because you can get extra confused. Faust will guide you through everything in Chapter 1 so dont worry (my girl dont bite lol only sarcasm). Once you get to the harder enemies, make sure to keep note of what they are weak to and level up your characters and make sure to evolve them.
[Big tips since I love talking about strategies!]
Rarities DO NOT MATTER in this game. I mean it big time. You see many people having these 3 Tiear identities(characters) but its best use the regular ones first.
Rodion carries by team from Chapter 1 to 2 but since I got 4 identities of 000 (Tier 3 rarity) aka I have the free Yi Sang, Ryoshu, Sinclair and Gregor, I had to change tactics because damn it became complicated.
If its your first time, remember to equip Sinners until you have at least one attribute for all attribute and make sure to check everyone's skills and equip E.G.O. Sometimes, there are skills that heal the characters and and can restore sanity points.
My biggest go-to character is Faust as her ego restores 20 SP (sanity points).
Characters have different ways of attacking (I still haven't learn the names yet so sorry) and theres 3 way, strike, slash and pierce. Make sure to equip characters that does two out of three methods so that your chances of winning a fight.
Rememebr, these are just advices I picked up as I play the game. Of course, I have my fair share of losing and winning battles.
Another tip, if you want to check their skills then hover your finger or pointer (if you use PC) on the selected identity of the Sinner to check their stats. The reason why I am saying this is because I didn't realize we can level up so I've been using the stages to level up.....
Faust would be cringing on my level of idiocy lmao.
Moving on..
Storyline: Im just gonna make it short (because this is getting long lol) but I seriously love everyone. All of the Sinners have such interesting backstory. It's rare for me to like all of the playable characters actually but ProjectMoon have written such detailed characters. The Sinners also have quite the interesting interactions with each other and Dante, their manager (or us? I seperate Dante and us players apart btw). Of course, there's some minor flaws in the writing but I'll disregard it. The manager aka Dante also interest me because before meeting the Sinners, he (Idk they specify Dante's gender but I just put male pronounce for this since thats how I see Dante as) do seem to have somewhat of interesting backstory.
Value: Honestly, you don't need to pay for anything (unless u want to) since it is F2P friendly and they are planning to add in a more anti-grind experience and plus, the Mirror Dimension (sorry if I forgot the name) will give 250 Lunacy, giving us 11 extractions (pulls) for 2 weeks. That's good. For now, I'll rate it somewhat okay since you do grind for a bit before the nezt update.
Overall, I hope people would play this game. Even if you dont like to play gacha games, it actually doesn't punish you. Idk if there is a pity system but I do feel confident about the game trying to provide a more F2P advantage.
Anyway, if anyone wanna add me as their friend the my manager ID is E257196374 (edit because typo)
I have fully Uptie Yi Sang (Blade Lineage Salsu), Ryoshu (Kurokumo Wakashu), Sinclair (Blade Lineage Salsu) and Gregor (G Corp. Manager Corporal).
Limbus Company
