This is definitely as close to League of Legends as you will get on mobile. There is still a lot missing, but they release updates very frequently and I have honestly been quite surprised how easy it was to adapt to the controls on mobile. I would highly recommend you give Wild Rift a go if you are into MOBAs, or anyone tbh.

The Pros:

The amount of detail and control you have over almost every aspect of how you control or perform operations in the game is honestly amazing. The setup you use will most almost certainly vary depending on how confident and skilled you are at the game. It took me a few matches to get a rough setup which has been tweeked every so often to where I got things today and now... it just feels natural tbh.

The frequency of updates, which often includes missing content (brought over from PC), is really amazing to see. There are constant bug fixes, new updates, they add in the missing champions all the time, it's just a great thing to see.

Voice chat. Tbh that is all I need to say. Just the fact that you can communicate within a party is a game changer. It makes coordinating things with friends so, sooo, much easier. The fact that League on PC *still* doesn't have this is honestly abysmal. Riot please fix the PC game.

Monetisation. This is one of my biggest gripes with mobile MOBAs in general. Some you can't even get certain champs for free. The way Riot has done it for both OG League and Wild Rift on mobile is probably one of if not the best out there. All the champs can be unlocked for free, you get tons of freebies from events and leveling up and completing the tutorials (skins, champs, boosts, etc).

The Cons:

I like almost everything about the game, but I do have some major gripes.

Firstly, why on earth would you think bots in matchmade games would be an acceptable thing, let alone in *ranked* matches. I understand this is a thing in most other mobile MOBAs due to the userbase and a lack of players. But please, just no... whenever I play against a bot (sometimes the entire enemy team is bots LMFAO) I honestly feel like drinking bleach. Their movements are so robotic and any joy you would get from playing against a human is lost. It is actually worse than playing against a scripter in League on PC just due to how mind numbingly boring and annoying it is. At least give us the option to opt out of playing vs (or *with* bots) in exchange for longer queues. I would happily wait 5+ mins extra for this.

Secondly, in both League and Wild Rift there are certain champions which are good counters for each other. However, I feel like in Wild Rift the level at which these counter picks effect the game has been turned up massively. There are many matchups where at a high level of play you are just f*cked no matter how skilled you are.

Lastly, I have experienced this a few times so I don't think its just me but it definitely could be. If you are searching for a match and close Wild Rift, the game still thinks you are logged in for a while (not sure how long), and if it finds a match for you in that time that it falsely believes you are logged in you will automatically get a warning/time penalty that you have to wait out before you can queue up the next day (or whenever you next launch the game).

Final thoughts:

By far one of the best mobile MOBAs available right now. I highly recommend it regardless of if you have played League on PC or not. Many hours spent, countless buckets sweat, multiple walls replaced, and innumerable toxic players smashed.

Civilization VI

3.6

This is basically a slightly dumbed down version of Civilization VI for PC, it's a great option if you are into strategy / civ building games. Everything "in" the game is free, however, you can buy additional content such as civilizations (characters to play as) and gameplay modes.

I have only ever played single player so I cannot comment on anything relating to the multiplayer modes.

Pros:
- the gameplay and how things are generated is highly customizable
- many civilizations to choose from, all of which have their own unique benefits and units/buildings/etc
- good graphics, sound and music
- can be played offline*

Cons:
- could be repetitive after a few games if you aren't into strategy games or if you don't adopt different playstyles every dozen or so games
- the additional content is (in my opinion) very expensive for what it is
- some of the controls are a bit finiky to use on a smartphone screen
- to play offline you need to login when you are online every so often*

SmithStory

3.0

I didn't play for very long so I can't give you a thorough description of the game or what (potentially) lies ahead at later stages. However, from the time I spent I can say my opinion is... meh.

Its repetitive, I guess that is to be expected from a clicker/craft/idle game... but this is another level for me. I don't feel any satisfaction or sense of achievement. The bosses are easy, leveling is easy, crafting is almost purely random combinations of items until you collect recipes for gear. I guess it could be a useful time killer, but there are so many similar games out there with more gameplay features, social or multiplayer aspects, etc.

I will concede that the artwork and aesthetics of the game are pretty good, nothing amazing but I like the style. One issue I encountered is that the game seems locked to a specific aspect ratio, so there were thick black bars on the top and bottom on my phone (S22U), so expect similar if using a phone with a tall display.

One other pro of the game would be that you can play offline. However, the offline rewards require an internet connection which is kind of a bummer.

Overall I would only recommend you try the game if you are someone enjoy the genre or the type of gameplay. There are definitely much better alternatives out there.
