IDOLiSH7 | Japanese

3.0

*I used to play BanG Dream! Girls Band Party and Project Sekai: Colorful Stage, so my review and standards of rhythm games are from them.

Graphics: 3/5
- earlier card arts can feel flat and bland
- displaying a card with its background is only limited to UR cards (see Gacha section for more)
- card arts lack mood lighting, most of them are just too bright if that makes sense...
!!! Artstyle of cards also varies for anniversary, as far as I know there are 3 types of artstyles: normal, 3D screenshot, card drawn by I7 mangaka.
= Overall, I think they can do better considering how big I7 is in Japan.

Sound: 3/5 (I'm still in Part 2 (there are 6 parts so far))
+ great voice acting
+ great music
- sometimes when characters scream, their voice quality is kinda scattered?? Like almost fried up??
!!! There are 4 groups that varies in music style. Out of the 4, I think ZOOL is the most modern; similar to K-POP.

Gameplay: 1/5
+ has autoplay mode
- gameplay is boring and simple
- buttons placement is weird
- sometimes the length of the note is hard too see due to way those 4 buttons are placed
- beatmap is decent
- note styles cannot be changed
- notes are hard to see due to button placement and lighting
- same circular shape for different note types (normal, hold, change lanes, flick)
- note speed cannot be changed specifically—this game uses slider with 5 (iirc) speed settings—instead of the usual + or - button
- each songs difficulty have their own note speed and CANNOT be changed.
!!!! There's only 4 types of note performance(?): Perfect, Good, Bad, Miss—only the last 2 will break combo.

Storyline: 5/5
Just go watch the anime if you want to know the story, be ause that's how I got into the game as well. Story is AMAZING for an idol game, it's not high school centered and most of the idols are 18+. If you like BL, then I think I7 is a paradise for you. Anyways since the game is only Japanese, you need to rely on translations—which are usually available on tumblr.

Gacha: 3/5
You get 20 free pulls (10 pulls from finsihing the tutorial) iirc when you first start. Each songs can give 6 stars per mode and there are 4 modes, so 24 stars per mode but the requirements to fully 24 can be quite grindy. Clearing story only unlock songs and gives EXP, IT DOES NOT GIVE STARS.
Event banners:
☆ costs 50 stars for your FIRST 10+1 pull
☆ 100 stars for the pulls after your first one
☆ no pity (I'm not sure about this one though)

To get gacha currencies: either grind those songs over and over or battle pass reward.

The only way to get UR cards is by having a 2 copies of SSR (1 fully raised SSR and a dupe of it)

Overall: 3/5
Honestly don't play the game if you're looking for a good idol rhythm gacha game, I think most people play this game for its rich story. Again, just watch the anime if you wanna know its story!!!

Limbus Company

4.0

Gacha:
Rates are not bad and there is a beginner banner with a 3* guarantee. There are Sinners (units) and E.G.O.s (kinda like unlockable ultimate attack for units), unfortunately they are mixed in the same banner. (I don't think they have a pity system yet).

*Better rarity does not mean better units, at least according to the guides... People also say that it's better to have different E.G.O.s rather than different Sinners.

Reroll:
Reroll is really easy, just go to settings -> account -> close account. Tutorial is skippable, each reroll probably takes only 5 minutes. I think you get around 50 pulls worth of currencies because of pre-register rewards.

Storyline/Art:
I'm still at chapter 2 but I've enjoyed it so far. Story is a bit heavy and chaotic, some of the illustration scenes are gory (blood, weird monsters, torn up bodies). The art is unique and not your typical waifu gacha game.

Music:
Music is decent but their stabbing sfx is great, you can hear the splort splurch sprut.

Gameplay:
RPG but you connect the Sinners' skills. Gameplay is extremely complicated, there are many factors that determine your Sinners' damage. It also has an RNG element (coin toss).

-

Overall fun game but it was also kinda laggy (I play on mobile) at the beginning for E.G.O. execution but turning down the graphics to medium and turning off post-processing helped.

They also don't have daily mission that give out gacha currencies which is pretty weird. Paid battle pass is 15 euros. And AFAIK, you can't change the Sinners art in the home menu.

Arknights | English

4.6

Gacha: 4/5
Nice drop rate and could get a 6 star in under 50 pulls (50 is the pity). They're quite generous with the gacha currencies, you get 1800 Originum per week (Annihilation)+ 700 Originium per week ( 7 days of daily missions) + 500 Originium per week (weekly mission) which equals to 6 pulls per week (600 Originium per pulls). In the beginning you will get a free 6 star and I think the best one is Exusiai and SilverAsh, there are tons of guides for rerolling so I suggest y'all check those.

There are 2 kinds of limited operators:
1. Will rerun in future (usually during half anniversaries): W, Rosmontis, Nian, Ling
2. Will never get a rerun (at least by the time I post this): S̶k̶a̶d̶i̶ ̶a̶l̶t̶e̶r̶,̶ ̶C̶h̶'̶e̶n̶ ̶a̶l̶t̶e̶r̶,̶ ̶N̶e̶a̶r̶l̶ ̶a̶l̶t̶e̶r̶,̶ ̶S̶p̶e̶c̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶a̶l̶t̶e̶r̶ collab characters (R6S and Monster Hunter)

Gameplay: 3.7/5
I'm bad at strategy games so do take this in consideration.
Stages can be cleared with low rarity operators and high rarity operators. Stages can be hard at times but they do give this "training ticket" thing where you play without getting the rewards (think of it as a way to plan your team for a stage). There are also many guides on YouTube if you suck at this type of game, my favorites are KyoStinV and Eckogen. Their guides are easy to follow and you can just copy them or modify your own.
Edit [難過]: This game has energy system by the way. Regeneration is 1 Sanity (energy points) per 5 minutes. And it has auto-mode once you complete a stage with 3 star. Auto-mode are available for every stages and are very useful for grinding, I think the CN has auto-complete ticket for Annihilation so you don't have to wait 30 minutes for 300ish Originium.

Art: 5/5
Arknights features MANY artists which of course have different artstyles. I think it caters to everyone because it has waifus (Surtr), husbandos (Thorns), and even cute lil kids (Suzuran). They also give L2D for limited operators for the Elite 2 art. There are also F2P friendly skins because you need Originite Primes which are obtainable through clearing stages.

Story: 4/5
The first chapters are kinda confusing for me and some characters are plain annoying but some of them do get developments in the next chapters. Story is text heavy (everything explained through texts, no video cutscenes) and is like a light novel.

Music: 5/5
Music and theme song matches the mood and they even make special song for some characters. They also have Monster Siren which specially produces music for Arknights (cmiiw). Literally top notch music that you wouldn't expect to come from a gacha game.

Community: depends (I'm on Twitter btw)
If you are in the "normal" community, all they talk about is the lore, make their own OCs, scream about their favorites, make meme, and other normal stuff. However, there are some people who would lewd the kid looking characters or of course make NSFW of those characters. There aren't any discourses (as far as I know) and most of them are just there to talk about their strats/fav characters/lore.

Conclusion:
Anime strategy games that doesn't take much of your time, has nice characters/lore/music that will make you want to open the game everyday.

Graphics: 5/5
The cards are really pretty and they've tried differenty artstyle/approach into making the cards.

Gameplay: 4.5/5
It might be a little too hard for players unexperienced with rhythm games (when they play expert difficulty), but some practice should make the game easier for the players. I used to not be able to full combo hard or 20+ difficulty songs but I got better after playing the game for 1 month.
This game has 3 types of events:
where you either compete with other players and get rewards based on you rank,
or you play normally (either solo or multi live) to get as many event points for rewards and to clear event challenges,
or you play together with 4 other players to beat the other players' team.
Your scores are determined from how good you play, how good is your characters' skills and how good your band equipments/furnitures are, but it is mostly skill based.

Gacha: 4.5/5
Good drop rates and players get tons of gacha currencies during anniversaries/special event (new story episodes). Players can get gacha currencies from clearing and full combo-ing songs, reading characters' stories (from the cards), and from the main band stories.

Limited:
- Dreamfest, previous rate up cards will be added to the future dreamfest gacha pool (not exactly limited).

- Collabs, can only be acquired during that collab period time. Reruns may happen as the Persona collab had a rerun last September (2021).

- Birthdays, can only be acquired during that character's birthday. Each year features new birthday cards for characters. I'm unsure about this but I think the birthday cards will not have any reruns so do save for you favorite character's birthday.

Reroll:
Easy to reroll and it is best to reroll during anniversary as you get tons of gacha currencies.

Conclusion:
Good for either busy people or people with many free time as the game doesn't require you too PLAY EVERYDAY (you do get daily rewards tho but there aren't any daily missions). Best to be played and enjoyed as a side game because competing in the JP rank (during events) is sort of impossible because of how dedicated they are to this game.
