Kemono Friends:Kingdom

4.4

Wish that you could experience Angry Birds again, but as a gacha where fully unlocking a character requires pulling them six times? Here's a cute game to fill that need. Yay.

If you've enjoyed the wide variety of rhythm games but wished for guys rather than ladies, this might be exactly what you've been searching for.

How is your Chinese? If it's not strong, you might not figure out that the daily login reward lockup fix is to change your phone's timeline to China, where it needs to stay if you don't want the game to lockup anytime it triggers the daily rewards. Game is fun, locked timezones are not.

Echocalypse | SEA

4.6

Game is fine. Make sure you complete world 5 for account linking if you have the slightest enjoyment.

Note that the QooApp version may or may not allow standard account binding, so that's a few hundred premium currency at risk, but it also means that losing your account is less likely.

Not needing to send your injured members off for slow healing after each zone removes some strategy, but generally in a good way. Still match three, but without completely skipping the less useful team members now.
Very similar to the other version, but probably a bit more accessible for new players. Also, tutorial was in English except for a few comments from a character that are untranslated even when the language is set to English.

I get a tiger running with a now loading screen. It's not the most compelling gameplay.

MapleStory M | Global

3.8

Played hundreds of hours on full MapleSEA back in the day. Played this up through level 40 before reviewing. With the move to mobile, there's basically two entirely different ways to play MapleStory M. If you prefer to follow the story, leave it in auto mode, click to tell it to complete the next objective, and turn back to the screen every 5-10 minutes to click on the new story and then start the next sequence of autoplay. If needing to precisely use a virtual gamepad makes you rapturous, mandatory controlling is an option, but then you hit the joy of not actually being able to control jump length and needing to precisely scoot back and forth on the platform so you can hit it without falling and... I swear I'm not going to leave it on auto, I'm just letting it do this one jump for me.
Game isn't terrible. I just don't need my phone to be a MapleStory screensaver.

Have you ever wanted your rhythm game to default to having the moving targets accelerate so there's no real way to gauge when to stop? At least it provides multiple options on how to fix the problems it causes, but...

Game is fun but will punish you if you try to move ahead in the tutorial. Not in a permanently broken way, just a "wait and heal up so you don't fail the same way next time" way. Seems moderately fun so far though.

At this point, what I'm sure about this game is that something made at me stop playing a bit over two years ago. I haven't been able to figure out yet what I'm supposed to do with the hundreds of conversation things it wants me to figure out and make permanent decisions about quite yet, but I look forward to realizing why I stopped again soon.

Dislyte | Global

3.0

Have you ever played AFK Arena and thought to yourself, "This would be perfect if they moved the cameras behind my team and added an energy mechanic so I can't obsessively play all day unless I'm spending RL money to recharge?" Have i got some news for you... your dreams are met now in Dislyte, a game from the same people who brought you AFK Arena.
Game has some tendency to lock up on first fight of the day, but closing and relaunching works fine. There's also a DJ rhythm mini game if you're sad that the 5 dollar discount copy of DJ Hero 2 doesn't connect properly to the more modem consoles.

Muse Dash

4.6

Rhythm game with two action zones. Many songs, but lots are behind a payment. Phone and computer progress does sync, so if you find yourself feeling like a given song would be easier with a keyboard, it's possible without any major stress. Enjoyable overall.

Have you played any idle games in the past few years? Wished there was only one loading screen that came up constantly? Thought what you needed to complete the adventure was low chance gacha with no daily free rolls? Well do I have a game ready for you...
Overall, it seems fine after a day. Will it hold my interest in a week, month, or year? Can't say. But at least we get ex-Qoo-sive rewards here.

MORTAL KOMBAT

4.2

MKM is... fine. Much better than the other WB fighting games, except for one major frustration. It longs for, begs for, desperately wants a strong network signal. For me, the game will usually fail to open when not connected using wireless, but because of how their terrible check works, if I slow down my connection by running it through a proxy, sometimes it will pass the MKM connection test even though it's slower and less reliable. In terms of the gameplay? When you can get to it, everything is pretty nice. Login bonuses though streaks are basically needed, game can be played auto though you'll do much better manually, and there's a variety of modes to try.
