SINoALICE | Japanese

5.0

SINoALICE is a beautiful game, published by Square Enix and produced by the same producer of NieR:Automata, based on the fairy tales characters: Alice, Cinderella, Snow White… All of them are characters in this game, in the best NieR:Automata style (elaborate and slightly unnecessarily sexy clothing, huge weapons covered in detailings…). The soundtrack is also something to be noted!

Each character (and I’m not gonna call them princesses… :P) have different skills and roles. You don’t get them via Gacha (which is quite refreshing, considering the mobile games environment) and, even though it’s a hero-collection RPG, you don’t assemble your own team (also refreshing).

In SINoALICE you acquire weapons and gear through the Gacha system. Once you choose and equip your character, you go out on missions in a 5-character team, where 4 are characters from other players, being controlled by the CPU.

The game is already available in the Japanese app stores, and should be available globally still this year! The company that is (was?) globalizing the game, Nexon, have had a few bumps and had to go through a heavy re-structuring process, resulting in delays and potentially cancelation of the Global version. Hope it all goes as planned. However, the global version is already up for pre-register and if you can’t wait, get used to the game in the Japanese version, there’s no reason not to!

Blood Domination | Global

2.8

Blood Domination is a visual novel game about vampires. The game is based upon the relationship of blood and control. There’s little character customization and story is set in a vampires school, where you (the newcomer) will meet and interact with other vampire students. These boys belong to different classes (social classes, not school classes) and relationships need to take that into consideration in this society
The vampires behave socially in two different ways: “Dom” (or Dominating) and “Sub” (or Submissive) and that’s the big lesson to learn in school: part of the society controls and dominates, the other part serves and obeys.
These characteristics are called “second gender” (since all characters are of the male gender).

Get to know your peer vampires (or should I say ‘vampeers’? ;D ) and chose who will you make a “contract” with in this bl visual novel.

A Certain Magical Index: Imaginary Fest is a turn based RPG, mixed with a card game, based on the series A Certain Magical Index.

Units are acquired via Gacha. The positioning of those units on the battlefield is part of the game’s strategy to defeat your enemies, and results in a innovative and fun gameplay. The story is well told, visually, with some slides and even some scenes, directly from the anime!

The list of characters is huge and the 3D versions are really polished and neat!

A great option for the fans of the series, and still good fun for those unfamiliar with it!

RWBY

4.2

RWBY is a mobile game based on the animated web series with the same name. The animation might not be the next big thing, for anime fans, but it’s got its own merits. The game, on the other hand, is REALLY polished!

The game is a side-scrolling beat’em up, with RWBY looks, which is the perfect combination! The game style matches RWBY in tone and theme! The characters from the series are playable in the mobile title and the animations here (in 2D, btw) are nothing short of jaw-dropping! The move sequences are amazing and fluid, giving speed and agility to the gameplay. The game is fast paced and exciting, even with simple controls (attack, skill, dodge, move).

The story of the game is not the same as the animation, which is also good news, since the anime lacks a little in that department and this gives the developers more freedom.

If you’re a RWBY fan, don’t miss out this great improvement to the franchise. If you’re unfamiliar, no need to go after it. Stick to the game and you’ll be having the better side of it…

Yo-Kai Watch Puni Puni is quite the unique game, since it combines so many known elements in a very different way! The Yo-kai are combined in order to use their skills. The more of the same Yo-kai you have side by side, the stronger the attack. You can collect the (HUGE) list via Gacha or befriending some of them after battles. The game has a story that might interest the hard-core fans of the series, but can be completely overlooked, since the title focuses on gameplay and collection.

Even though it’s a more casual type of game, it can get really complex if you decide to get into all the minor details of each unit and their skills, advantages and disadvantages, damage calculations, combo possibilities, etc., but it can still be a relaxing enjoyable experience if you chose not to!

The game is in Japanese, but parts of it ar in english. The non-translated part (menus, interface, etc) requires some attempts and mistakes to get used to, but you will quickly get familiarized. It would only be needed while navigating through menus, and not during actual gameplay, so nothing that a quick internet translation wouldn’t solve…

BLEACH: Brave Souls

5.0

This game is amazing, specially for those who already like BLEACH!
The game is extremely attractive: I saw someone playing it and got instantly interested. I showed it to a couple of friends and now we are all playing it!
Being able to control your favorite BLEACH character is amazing, even after having to get them via Gacha, which is kind of generous and well explained.
And even better, after collecting them, you can use your characters to go a hack’n’slash combat, in a cool 3D style, which is really fun! The soundtrack (as expected from anything BLEACH) is pure rock’n’roll!
For those who are into BLEACH, this is the perfect game! For those not familiar, this is guaranteed fun!!!

Tenka Hyakken | Japanese

5.0

Tenka Hyakken is an action RPG in a lovely anime style, with girls for every taste…

The game is in japanese, but it’s worth it nonetheless! Besides the “katana girls” and the lovely animations, the game offers a fun , simple and immersive gameplay! The Gacha system can get you new girls as well as materials to upgrade them. The interface is pleasant and fun, including many well-animated characters in several parts of the menus.

If you are looking for a fun hack-and-slash, topped up with waifs, look no further! Tenka Hyakken will surely scratch that itch!

The game is in Japanese, but you can still get it…

Collect characters and assemble your own team, with your favorite characters straight from the Fairy Tail anime series!

Fight enemies in turn-based RPG battles, using your characters skills! Collect resources to upgrade your units!

It’s a game like so many others, but better than most! And on top of that, there’s that special taste of Fairy Tail, for the fans of the anime series! And for those unfamiliar with the series, it’s a really well done RPG! All you need is a bit of patience to understand what’s in Japanese, but there are plenty of guides and tutorials out there for you to get the basics, and you can easily get used to it!

Yo-kai Watch: Medal Wars

5.0

Yo-Kai Watch: Medal Wars is an amazingly fun and cute game.
In a cartoon/anime style, Yo-Kai Watch: Medal Wars offers a innovative real-time combat system, in which three of your Yo-kai battle against waves of enemies while other three stay on the “reserve”, ready to cover for the any of the three main ones, should you chose to do substitutions and heal them!
Besides its fun gameplay, Yo-Kai Watch: Medal Wars also brings you the immersion in the Yo-Kai Watch universe with a completely new storyline, combined with the possibility of collecting your own Yo-kai and assembling your own team.
The graphics are fantastic and extremely pleasant! The world in which you play is so well done that it really allows you to enjoy being present in this world, even through your mobile screen!

Take some time off and go on vacation to Yo-Kai Watch: Medal Wars! You won’t regret it!

Aura Kingdom II is the most beautiful RPG I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen RPGs…
The characters are drawn to an incredible manner, both in character design and visuals! The sceneries ar (ALL OF THEM) gorgeous! The loading screens are illustrated in such an amazing style that I really don’t mind if they take a while…The weapons and armor are amazing as well! Just watching this game is already enough entertainment.
The fan-service is a bit uncalled for, but tolerable.
The game has everything you would want in a MMORPG: interesting classes, involving skills, companion characters that help you out, interesting creatures for enemies and mounts, an amazing soundtrack that transports you to a world of wonders.
The story is so immersive (even though I’ve only started playing it) and so well told visually that you can enjoy it even not understanding a word of Mandarin (yeah, the game is not in English :c ).
It starts with a tutoria that is really immersive and fun, in an epic battle, right off the bat! It won me over in the first few minutes. I’m not gonna go into details to avoid spoilers…
The fact that you have NPCs that join your party and help you on your missions is a big plus for me! I love co-op games and I really enjoy being able to manage my own team to feel like I’m co-oping even when on my own!
The mount early on in the game (alpaca/sheep) also adds extra points! What fun it is to ride it around!

Anyways, if you like MMO RPGs, Japanese- or Korean-style games (this one mixes them both to perfection), do not miss out!!!

Naruto - Shinobi Collection Shippuranbu is, somehow, an auto-runner RPG. I know this sound like an unexpected combination, but that’s only because it is one.

In this game you’ll run (like a ninja) and attack enemies, avoid attacks, collect coins and swap characters in a very fast-paced Naruto themed runner, only to end up in a turn-based RPG battle.

The game have a beautiful interface and all the content is coherent with the Naruto aesthetics. The characters are stylized in a different way to the anime/manga, but it’s sure to still please the fans.

The game was designed for Japanese audience only, so it’s all in Japanese and only available on the Japanese Play Store, but it doesn’t require a VPN to run and QooApp is here for you, so all you gotta do is download it and enjoy it!

Mass for the Dead is a game based on the popular anime series OVERLORD. In this game, you will collect units/cards in a Gacha system, assemble your team and battle (with fast-forward speed and auto mode) against waves of enemies in the world of Ygdrasil (the MMO RPG from the main series).

The graphics are a little bit stylized, but really comfortable to look at and quite pleasant, in my honest opinion. Collecting the different characters is super fun and their design (straight from the series) never ceases to amaze me. There’s also a new character, designed exclusively for this game, that acts as a companion/guide.

The game is in Japanese, though and only available in the Japanese App stores.

If you’re a fan of Overlord, check this out, for sure! If you’re not familiar with the series, give it a try too, and you mind find yourself with a new mobile game and a new anime series to watch!

This is simple to explain: Minecraft on the go! Exploring, collecting and building, anytime anywhere!

It’s a pocket version of Minecraft, and it is also pocket-sized. Theres a limited world size, a limited variety of enemies and a limited amount of things you can do.

Some things are made easier to suit the mobile controles, like crafting. But controlling through the mobile is less comfortable then pad or keyboard/mouse (which can be done through BlueTooth)

Fun and satisfies the craving for Minecraft, but it still is only a sample of what the real game can offer…

Lego Cube

5.0

Imagine having all the LEGO in the world available to you. Or even better a whole world MADE out of LEGO!!!

LEGO Cube allows you to enter a world of LEGO and explore it, take it apart, re-build it, build all kinds of different things to play around!

There’s no limits to what you can do, and all in the amazing style of LEGO. Expect the usual great sense of humor, friendly gameplay, easy interface and limitless fun that you imagine a LEGO game could offer. Not to mention the extremely satisfying sounds of the little bricks coming apart and shaking in your inventory…

This game is guaranteed to bring joy to kids of all ages!

Beautiful valkyries with their own looks, costumes, weapons, skills and (most importantly) play styles!

Battles against bosses are challenging and skill will always be your main weapon: knowing how to avoid attacks can get you to defeat amazingly powerful enemies (which lightens a lot the load of responsibility over you Gacha pulls).

Patience is needed for upgrading your characters, since the amount of resources you get is not really that generous. You still get plenty of coins and chips, but don’t expect to blaze through levels in a single sitting…

The game rewards the players for regular playing with the dailies rewards and the enormous amount of events!

Skill, patience and regularity will pay off on this free to play gorgeous mobile action RPG.

Digimon ReArise is a new and gorgeous Digimon game for mobile developed by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. To put it simply, it’s a free-to-play, Mon-collecting, real-time strategy RPG with all the content you would expect from a Digimon game and then some more.

The battles can be quite deep and challenging. The fact that you can have up to 5 Mons in a team make it quite elaborate, but there’s also the auto mode and FFW for the easy ones in which you’re above the power level needed…

Collecting Mons is really fun in this game, because it includes the classic “old” ones (if you’re nostalgic) and the new ones (if you’re currently a fan). Also there’s an entirely new exclusive Mon, Herissmon (seriously cool design, btw) to be your companion through the game!!!

The Gacha system is quite generous too, since any pull is usable! You can upgrade them and train them without needing repeated pulls. If you do get repeated ones, though, you can use them to improve the Digimon’s skills, so no pull is ever wasted!!!

The REAL fun is hanging with your Digimon! There’s a whole area dedicated to this in the game in which you can see your Digimon hanging around, hanging with each other, interact with them, feed them and really feel like you have a bunch of Digi-buddies on your phone! Oh, and that’s not useless either! You can feed them their favorite food for extra happiness and help them Digivolve.

If you’re worried about playing it in Japanese, fear not! There’s been announcements of a western version coming still in 2019!!! You can pre-register now and wait anxiously or start getting familiar with it in Japanese… The choice is yours, but don’t miss out!
