Title screen is AI-generated art. A WW2 bolt-action rifle having a forward-assist rod and the usual hand/fingers fudge characteristic of cheap diffusion engine. Already a red flag but let's see the actual game.

Standard vertical TD gameplay all other games of this type. You've played one, you've played them all. HOWEVER.

From the screen shots the game made you think there's a "merge unit" mechanic where you merge your troops to achieve a stronger version throughout a stage but no, you straight up have to gacha for your troops. Goes from green lowest to yellow highest, but the screen shots show red units so possibly future update (this is still considered beta test according to in-game announcement)

Now here's the catch: there's two gacha pools, green and blue. Both has a pity count of 30, but green pity guarantees a purple and only blue pity guarantees a yellow. A single blue pull is as 4x expensive as a green pull (160 and 40 respectively), and the blue pool is still bloated with green units. Outside of pity if you pull a yellow it's always shards instead of a complete package. Yeah, it's one of those games.

2x speed for the stage is also tied to monthly VIP subscription. Daily/Weekly/Monthly free packs are worse than a pittance. 200 coins each which amounts to basically jack shit in the grand scheme of things. There seem to be a few free packs for new players but rather than having them in the in-game store, you have to go to their website and contact customer support to receive said packs. Miss me with that bs.

Tl;dr, it's a time waster side game and even then you're better off waiting for a mod apk version with infinite resources.

Edit: oh yeah, certain stages in the games have 1st clear reward and Perfect clear reward, which requires you to clear the stage with 100% hp. But many enemies, bosses included, have ranged attack and literally the final boss of chapter 1 is immune to all negative status effects like stun or push back which are the only way to prevent the enemies from attacking your base. They have an in-game survey and I've already 1star'ed every single question.

Edit: at the point of writing this, I am about an hour and a half into the game, and I've had like a dozen crashes or so.

The game always crashes during cutscene or when transitioning between zones, whereas the gameplay is actually stable. But as I am currently in the beginning of the game, there is A LOT of cutscene so the game just crash every 5 minutes and that's not even the best part. If the game crashes during a cutscene, rather than putting you back before the cutscene when you log back in, the game just skips it and right now there is no way to rewatch those cutscenes.

Right now I am on the last starter mission where you talk to the girl in the town square to basically conclude the prologue and begin the story proper, but the moment I complete her dialogue the game instantly crash. Like I am physically unable to progress any further.

Until the devs put out an optimization patch, I would not recommend this game at all.

been playing this on steam since launch and honestly? I've been having more fun with this than with Exilium. Yeah, gameplay is a bit simpler but it is addictive. You can really mix and mash your lineup and not forced into a single team comp depending on the boss' elemental weakness.

Although the gacha can be rather scummy since you're forced to always do 10-pull for it to count toward pity, I can understand this for the mech gacha since you're pulling for 4 individual pieces and hitting pity just give you the whole set, but it makes no sense for the pilot pool. With all that said, it's still a thousand times better than Exilium which adopted the Genshit model aka "certain characters being intentionally gimped and you're expected to pull for dupes AND their weapon to even have them functional".

Rememento - White Shadow

Waited a whole hour for the game to download everything, only for it to tell me "this country isn't supported" and tgis is with choosing the supposed "global" server. Backed out and turned on VPN, nope! Game doesn't even let you choose a different server.

10/10 experience.

Soul Huntress: Roguelike

Cool art style and atmosphere design, braindead gameplay and greedy monetization. It's one of those games where you're expected to grind everyday for extremely minuscule reward just to hopefully get a bit stronger to fight the next level.

There's currently three available characters, two of which os paywalled or cost 6000 in-game currency, and you get about 100 doing dailies aka meaning two whole months of nonstop grinding just to unlock them.

Gameplay is extremely basic and spammy. You just hold down the attack button and the character will automatically dash toward an enemy and attack, the movement button is only ever used when moving between area. Early in the tutorial the game tells you to kill archers with your bow but the bow has pitiful damage unless charged, even then it can't kill them in one shot.

There is also no option to disable auto lock-on enemy so unless you're used to the awkward aiming on mobile you're gonna miss your shot, a lot. Worse is that because of auto lock-on even if you decided to kill the archers with melee, the game will still attack another enemy instead if they're bunched up.

Equipment like the three sub weapons act in place of your ability, but they're just different flavor of more damage/dmg reduction/healing so nothing really to have you strategize or use your brain.

Open Love - AI Girlfriend

ah yes, "AI slop trying to disguise itself as an actual product: The Game". Let's be serious, the only reason you will ever touch that "download" button is just so you can write about how big a piece of shovelware this thing is.
