Touhou Danmaku Kagura

Very quickly, this game is bandori but touhou. I'm already sold. This review will be kinda biased since the game includes several covers I adore. sorry.

Touhou Danmaku Kagura (TDK) very clearly takes inspiration from bandori: l2d models, UI, backyard systems are very similar but refreshing with a 2hou twist. The inclusion of an exploration feature is interesting, similar to idolmaster's oshigoto. All in all everything feels familiar but are not unwelcome.

That said, the art and l2d for heroines and characters are spectacular and their card frame animation at higher enhancements are a neat addition. The graphics in this will not disappoint.

Next, the story. I can hardly pass np4. Moving on.

Now, the music. Apart from the clear lack of choices compared to other rhythm games on release, its song selection is quite good, covering a few well known doujin songs and official OSTs; it even introduced to me a doujin song I needed in my life. I do not consider it a hassle needing to wait for more songs.

Finally, the beatmaps. I'm not a rhythm game master nor know anything about making beatmaps, so take this with a pinch of salt. The beatmaps feel good and symergise well with the music (as they should) although I haven't seen any lunatic beatmaps bc I'm a pleb. Apart from one or two songs with beatmaps that doesn't sit well with me personally, they're all without fault. As a side note, TDK doesn't have flick notes but instead this weird psudo held notes (along with regular held notes); it doesn't detrack from the cohesiveness of the beatmap and offers different ways for the player to approach them. An odd addition if you ask me.

What? I've forgotten a section? wdym?
argh fine I'll talk about the gacha and teambuilding.
In addition to the usual "match the correct song attribute to see more digits", each song you play is actually also a spellcard duel with a boss related to the music, which introduces an additional layer of teambuilding as bigggg numbers and spellbreak may not coincide with the same team. Theres also a danmaku section of a song, and that is very, uh, *different*. Currently it's only available on one song but I think TDK is onto something. I'm looking forward to more songs with this mode.
The gacha is very standard. 3.6% SSR rate with free SSR from the tutorial. Nothing to really talk about here, although I'm a bit suspicious of the "battle pass" feature available. Although it feels like a moneygrab, the game can be played fine without, so I'm not bothered too much.

In conclusion: if you're familiar with rhythm games, then you already know what's more or less in store for you - if this piqued your interest, try it; if not, don't. Otherwise, I'd recommend this to those with exposure to 2hou and enjoy its ost.

P.S. add me nwVc5HUo [開心]

SoulWorker: Zero

SoulWorker: Zero

3.6

They did a good job porting the pc version, capturing a lot of the beauty and basic mechanics, but it lacks a lot of the things that made soulworker stand out among other mmos of its style - the skills and skill combos available which allowed players to create fun and unique skill chains which gave players virtually endless choices to fit their playstyle.

They also simplified a few mechanics, which is understandable due to platform limitations, but was a let down for me who had played the pc version.

There are also other minor hindrances to gameplay that could be fixed like giving a little freedom in camera angles or showing mob special attack indicators.

All in all this is a very good mobile app and captures the foundations of soulworker and I would recommend this to those who enjoy realtime roleplaying mmos like honkai. but for those looking for simply soulworker but on mobile, I'd suggest to not walk in with high expectations.
