Some main meta characters for those starting:
Shizuku (Healer + dps boost, she broke the game prior to her nerf but is still massive, aka umbrella girl)
Christina ( Blue hair mage, probably ur strongest if not friendly mage starters, not the strongest late game but will carry u through contents u need to clear as a starter to get stronger.)
Mei (Ur go to dps pvp and pve physical dpser, she will always hit charcter with highest atk power, beware of high end pvp where pple adjust atk power. Loli orange hair gun girl)
QianCao (Single target magical dps, Did i hear u need someone to kill guild bosses and bosses who arent strong against magic in 1 attack? Warrior Cat? Dog? black hair twin swords)
Risa (Simple, easy, low end requirement power battery, if paired with Shizuku and spec'd atk correctly to not take umbrella's buff (or can), can make ur dps just.... obliterate. Mystic, Palewhite? hair girl with beret)
Tanks: Anyone, (most will start with Hotaru since she provides mag def buff for team when farming the end game gears. Purplish hair sword girl, Tank) From there some go to the tank u get at 2-1 for more dps boost or Benimaru(orange red fire-y hair tank girl) if u want PvP tank.
Gear stats u want:
Dps: Atk > Crit > Atk Spd/Crit Dmg >Crit Dmg/Atk Spd
Healer: Atk Spd > Block Chance > Atk (For Shizuku specifically: Atk just below enough ur dps to get her own buff but not the #1 highest dps to get other party's buff, atk spd, block chance)
Tanks: Block Chance, Atk Spd, Atk, Crit/HP/Def/ M Def
Mystics: Atk spd, block chance, atk, crit
Runes, honestly everyone runs all atk% runes on weapons unless u need to adjust atk values then u equip crit/crit dmg/ block if anything.
Rune on Mag Def equipment is usually Hp heal per attack for Dps/Tank or if u are seeing ur team not getting 1 shotted and dying alot. Majority of others wear Mp regen per hit for cycle consistancy and mana burns if any from bosses.

If your a fan of Grils Frontline and Waifu Lane, the game's expectations is at a similar wave-length.
The game is a bit refreshing adding RTS aspects to a Waifu collecting game. You (can) play at your own pace, and do things on your own schedule. There is PvP, but not a major part. Odds are you'll quit the game before it quits on you.
U can clear all solar systems within 1~3 days if ur serious, and know how to manage resources, handle high level manuvers, and spare the time.
Just so everyone has an idea of units, the entire game can be done with any and every character. Some makes it easier others will offer a challenge. The discord community for EN had cleared challenges (clear all solar systems) from Specific Type units only, low rarity units, high rarity units only, range only, melee only etc.
After roughly a week? of the game's release, I thought i would give everyone a review of the in-game mechanics outside of first impressions.
Very Stamina hungry game, 6 min for 1 stam. Reset is necessary if u want to compete in world ranking challenges. The daily gives u 2 free reset (if you choose to use the jewel to reset).
This game is elemental advantage + same elemental type heavy. With elemental advantage, you deal up ~150% dmg increase, and it can go up to 250% if AUG correctly (plus rng). Same elemental (AUGs and support char slots) give more stats if they r the same type.
Game is time-gated waiting for girl's heart lvl to proceed or become strong. At β‘30 your stats are ~1.5x stronger.
You dont exactly need your team to compose of 4*s Skills > Stats IMO, but a majority of Overpowered skills r with 4 stars.....
Now to answer, +3 4* or +3 2 3*s, do ur 4* getting the orange item isnt ez till ur mid-game. Your +1 3*, lvl 30β‘ characters r strong enough for majority contents

The game is really generous.
Lots of free jewels and summoning tickets daily. (Takes about 15-20 mins to finish)
For Rerolling, I use nox, creating multi instances and just redownload game for SSR (recommend deleting the instance with no SSR in it), it's 3.75% but roughly 20+ rerolls and haven't gotten one yet (probably my rng) or..... wait 7 days lol
I would recommend playing this game on Mobile than emulator: reroll on emulator, account bind and login on Mobile. The strategy part gets thrown out the window for emulator because you can drag an attack off the screen and create a straight line attack ignoring all weather conditions and flies to the cursor (LOL). Your choice if you want take on a challenge or not.
For those of you who are having trouble getting into the game, there is a "guest login". After closing notifications, there is a button at the bottom of the window which will switch ur window into asking for a (6 and above) password. No worries, u can type any password u want, its ur guest login password.
Gameplay is similar to Kancolle Arcade, Azur Lane: Crosswave, and Abyss Horizon.
So far the game has been fair, giving u multiple chances of 10x summons. Every 10 summon is either a SR or SSR.
Rerolling is not necessary, but does help to get some SSR to push for the free SSR they give in-game. (your choice)
Superbing(Limit breaking) isn't hard, but time consuming IRL. There is a generous system that lets u choose a shipgirl and instantly duplicates them...
Marriage system 
Crafting, best recipe spammed so far is : 30, 600, 600 and 1
Donatation: requires alipay, or chinese phone # and ID, international need Traveler ID (VISA, etc.)

4.0Free x10 roll after tutorial till 6/22 for rerollers.
Targets for reroll: 5*: Sirius, Ashura
4*: Alice
If u plan to play the game, highly recommend playing now, as the event ongoing has the poor mans ver. of Sirius (one of the best units in game) lessening reroll hell.
Artery gear is the mecha waifu Epic Seven.
Alot of Stamina goes towards Event point farming, and gear farming. For those who dont have time, theres a function to start the farm then u can close the app afterwards.
F2P status: Yes, to a degree. F2P's get about ~80 summon per month(excluding mail stuff), Pity is 200. Meaning some dodges if u want meta units.
PvP: Current state is SPD + Cleave. Until stronger units come switching to Bruiser meta.
Probably the most P2W aspect in this game is the Unique Weapon system, not necessary for PvE or decent ranking for PvP but u can see dmg difference from a high level UW compare to the average level UW.
