Reactor 2: Nuclear Tycoon

An extremely simple and watered down game.
Not to say it isn't fun, but not much to think or do, just idle.

The basic game play is
- build a set of 3 buildings
a) heat generating building
b) generator to consume heat and output electricity to sell
c) heat sink to cooldown the generator's excess heat.
(is a by product so you cannot prevent it through consuming all the generated heat of (a))
- use the money from the sales of electricity to research which unlocks more buildings or improves efficiency and money cap
- unlock/buy land to build more buildings, clearing away some obstacles like trees and ponds if necessary

Now, the game does not need you to think too much.
The hardest part is planning how you want to place the 3 building types.
And that is not difficult at all.
After, you just need to decide what to research and thats it.
There are some basic stuff to earn more money and tech points but... is just a click, no brainer.

Now for ads...
The game has ads but no forced ads.
And practically need no ads to progress, if you play it idle.
You can use ads to
- speed up
But the amount is too small, so in most cases, is best just to exit the game and come back later
- get more money or tech points
I do watch this sometimes but thats actually... out of pity. The amount given is so small, its not even worth watching

So while there are ads, it really makes me worried that no one will actually watch it.
No idea what the developer is thinking. *sigh*
Will the game survive like this?

So the gist is...
Its a simple game, to the point of taking up almost no time and brain power.
There are ads but simply not worth watching.
Interesting enough for the little amount of effort it needs. But nothing worth bragging about.

Jewel Coloring

Jewel Coloring

4.8

Puzzle is more about sorting.
So you are given some empty slots then have to move the jewels to the matching background.

By design, it is probably impossible to get stuck.
No timer.
No ads while solving. (at least as I have played so far)

Ads are after a puzzle is completed.
But since each puzzle takes time to complete, just treat it as a chance for a short rest.

The simplicity of the task with the unexpectedly large amount of effort to solve it, gives it an addictive feeling. Is like after each puzzle, I kind of get the urge to check out the next one.

Summary, fun, simple, non intrusive ads and slightly addictive.
Probably a death trap for those with OCD hehehe[怪笑]

Idle Cat Gunner

Idle Cat Gunner

4.5

I played 3 days already and just did an update.
So review is based on before update.

First the big question, Ads.
The game does not seem to have forced ads. As in you won't have ads popped out simply from playing a duration of time or moving between stages.
So its good since there will be no interruption when you are enjoying the game.

There are still ads though.
Like when you collect rewards, there are ads to multiply your rewards by 3.
Or actually 4? since they give you 3x the copy + the original so its 4x.
Either way, its optional and usually at the end of dungeon runs, so is really not disruptive.

Now, the gameplay.
Basically you have 3 weapon slots. When you equip a weapon on that slot, a cat appears with the weapon. So if you equip 1, then 1 cat. Equip 3, then 3 cats. See?
Game is based on 2 parts
- temp stats which is increased using coins dropped by mobs you kill.
- perm % increase stats from reincarnation. (erm what was the term? forgot, sorry =3=)
So basically you kill mobs, gather coins, upgrade stats then push through the stages.
When it gets too hard, reincarnate and assign % stat increase. So the next run, though the temp stats are reset, will still allow you to advance further.

There are also other mechanics boosting your stats such as skins (costumes), weapons, pets, fish and more.
Most need gems but this is not an issue as daily quest and login does give quite abit.

Now, what really makes the game fun.
Its of course, the destruction.
The perverse guilty pleasure of destroying things.
Better yet, destroying things in chunks, watching as everything gets flattened and disappears with a single sweep of your gun. pew pew pew [賣萌]
Oops, lost control for a moment hehe.
So to simplify, it is kind of like those mmorpg where you cast an AOE and a swarm of mobs dies.
Now, replace those with a dense forest of trees and mow them down at 10x the speed {{==[害羞]
Feels kinda awesome like you are actually powerful and actually destroying stuff

Though yeah...
Erm... lets ignore the fact that its actually deforestation...
Its just a game right? [難過]

So there, the guilty pleasure of destroying stuff en masse, the lack of forced ads, the cute kitties, the big guns and the constantly improving stats.
If that tickles your fancy, then join me in wiping out the world muahahaha *coughs* oops

Ragnarok: The New World | SEA

A nice visual novel with open world exploration.
Oops?
Its not a visual novel?
But all I did was play a story running from place to place.

Now, older RO games has abit of combat.
You have a bit of story, then go out hitting mobs and later clearing dungeons/
Now, when I say "later", I mean like lv 15 or so? Early game.
You don't just watch some story then pop out mid tier and go straight into dungeons.

Before I complain, here are the Pros
1) Costume is highly customisable.
You can change the size, position and dye parts.
Now, this may not seem to be impressive. But it is powerful enough to change an eyepatch into a hairpin. So you can actually use your costume parts in unexpected manner to produce different results and ecstatics.

2) A new story. This is unlike the original RO story which has been edited in most RO games.
A fresh new story and perception

3) Stats and skill resets are free and can be done anytime. Allowing you to modify your build or edit mistakes.

Now, to the Cons
1) Class change is not available early game.
- yes, they promise class change in the playstore details but I don't see any such option in game
- yes, it may be unlocked later, but I heard from beta players that there is a cooldown of 30 days. So it probably is not possible to change like how you do for skills and stats.
- Gist is that you cannot use this feature to test different builds out.
- And if you believe their lies and try out different class thinking to change back later if it is not fun, well, think again sucker (thats me btw, big sucker)

2) Exploration is limited early game.
- much like The Winds Meet, things get unlocked as you progress with the story.
In TWM, if you hate the story and run off, you don't have the means to repair your weapon, so pretty much dead.
In RO, features like pets and equipment upgrades are unlocked and introduced with the story. Moreover, the story provides a crazy amount of xp. So running off isn't an option.

3) Story does not ease you into the game that much
- you level up too much with too little battles. When features unlocked, its touch and go.
Unlike some RO games, where you need to grind abit using those features, this game simply push past those features with Story xp.
- the result is that when the story pauses due to insufficient xp, you may find yourself pretty lost.
Where to farm xp? Which quests should be done daily?

4) Many features in game are party based.
- this is both a pro and con tbh
- unlike other RO games, other than idle farming, most of the xp is from joining party and clearing dungeons
- now, this might not sound like an issue. But a few points
a) how easy can you find a group to join the dungeon? Because, unlike other RO games, making a party of 1 does not allow you to enter. You need a minimum of 3 members in the party
b) will the party members be toxic? Remember, you just pop out of story, barely farmed equips and barely upgraded. If not p2w players, your equipment will be even weaker. You don't know the skills to use or how to correctly use them like targeting , timing, etc. If the party is toxic, then getting cuss out of the party is the least you can experience

5) Lots of unknown outside the story.
As I tried out mob farm, I come across NPC with quest I have not complete. I think?
Basically, I was cooped up in the story and leveled up there, bypassing the maps which other RO used for their own story and mob farms. So going to those areas, I strongly suspect that alot of content might have been missed.

So, while I really don't feel like playing anymore...
A few advice to make the game more enjoyable for those interested

1) Choose your class wisely
- being able to change classes anytime is a SCAM.
2) Try to get a group of friends to play together
- so that party play might be fun? (I don't know tbh)
3) Probably view thie game as an end game content type.
- given that one can level up so fast through story, the mid game content might be something considered not worth or an addon such as for grinding materials and stuff to fill your time.

For me, choosing the wrong class, unable to change due to the fake promises and not having a proper progress to learn and test my char. Leaves me with a bitter taste, enough to stop playing.
So good luck to all you new adventurers.
Good luck [開心]

This review is for tablet.
So here is my super short experience.

- after download, there was 6gb updates to download. The update downloads crashed the game twice
- open the game and the login text and display were super small, like ants. Can read but stil...
Oh and might be because I am using tablet.
- chose gmail login and created an account. The account creation took forever until I gave up
- closed the game, waited 15 minutes or more before open the game to login.
- the login (some sso related) took ages too. I gave up, close the game, open and try sign in again. Took alot of waiting and restarting before it works
- created new char and login, yay. Then appeared as a bearded old man whose legs cannot move. He just glides or something
- close the game and open and login. This time my body cannot even be seen and I cannot move.
- waited ages until finally a body loaded

Now, on to gameplay
- no idea whats the benefits of skills. Why 2 numbers
- cannot find status menu like normal mmorpg, so I think that skill menu might be it. But I don't find much details.
- then introduced to quests but no idea where the quest menu is too. I just continue the story anyways.

- movement is point and click. No joystick
- loading of areas are slow
- items that can interact with are not highlighted, so is hard to know what items are usable.
- coupled with bland graphics, its hard to tell what to click and check on.

I would say playing this would be like a cozy game.
You do stuff for the sake of doing. Not much about getting stronger (I think?)
But with the graphics this old, wouldn't newer cozy games be better? Even if you cannot fight there.

So lost, so depressed by the colors, hard to control, slow loading.
Can't say why this game was so highly recommended by some of my friends

4.0

Pretty interesting and addictive, if not for a flaw.

Basically you
- click on a dirt tile to dig
- click on an explosive type tile to trigger the explosion (depends on type)
- click on ore to dig
- click on empty tile to move
- click on chest to open (if you have keys)
- click on monster to attack

Explosion can trigger other explosion tiles, destroy dirt and ore tiles.
Ore tiles give resources
Chest may give artifacts. (trophy related)

equipment gives
- shield : how many hits you can take (monsters and... explosions?)
- pickaxe : number of digs you can make. If you run out while inside, you lose
- keys : to open treasure chest
- aura? : to release some special move, like release explosives ?

The logic as you see above is simple and fun.
Explode your way down, gather the resources, upgrade then dig again.
There are different maps or you can repeat to clear some trophies for rewards.

Now the bad part. Mainly scrolling.
When you go down, the screen scrolls with you.
Very logical.

When you drop fast, the screen scrolls faster.
Still logical.

When explosion opens a big hole below, the screen scrolls quickly to the bottom of the hole.
While this does not block you from going down, now that you cannot see nor click the above areas, you cannot click on the chest or move around to gather loot.
So this is kind of bad. A penalty for the chain reaction of explosions which should have benefitted you but now doesn't

When the screen scrolls fast and you reach the bottom of the screen, the screen continues to scroll fast for awhile.
Now, this is fatal.
You slowed down but the screen does not.
Means if you accidentally get blocked by certain tiles, you might not be able to find an alternative path fast enough before the screen moves down enough to make you out of screen.
So you will not be able to progress and triggers a loss.

So basically it goes like this:
- trigger explosion, path opens, yay
- explosion triggers a chain and huge path revealed, HYPE HYPE
- screen scrolls down immediately. Wait... I saw a chest, oh no!!!!
- dash to the bottom grumbling, then after a few digs, hit a tile that cannot dig through
- dig side ways and after 2 tiles, your char edges out of the screen above. Oh no, wait wait, why so fast?
- 2 seconds later, your screen is now so far below, it triggers a game over. [無語]What happen?

To put it simply, while the concept is fun, even if repeated, you don't get the time to loot when the explosions get big. And at times, might just scroll fast enough to bury you, giving you an unsatisfying loss.
No idea how many times I was chasing the screen and left piles of resources behind [發火]

Rogue Legend - Roguelike RPG

The gist is that you roll a dice on a board and depending on the tile you move to, you get
- random stat up
- random stat down
- normal battle
- slightly stronger battle
- shops (black market need to be on tile but normal market can just pass through)
- event tiles (like drawing some in-battle skills or rolling the dice for some coins)
- GO (much like monopoly where it triggers once you pass over it). You choose to either recover hp or lv up 1 of 3 skills you already obtained. Also, it strengthens the enemy mobs (probably not the boss though)

Board so far I have seen 2 types
- loop where the boss is triggered by number of dice rolls
- linear where you only have a fixed number of tiles to travel

So loop may benefit from larger dice rolls as you pass by GO more.
While linear may benefit from smaller dice rolls as you can hit more tiles to gain more xp, coins and events

Battle is heavily dependent on luck.
The results can tilt depending on
- getting the skills you want based on your build (equipment setup)
- number of battles you drop on as you can get more xp and coins. But if you are weak, then may die faster instead
- event tile you hit as it affects the chance to get skills or coins
- buff tiles (because better stats)
- debuff tiles (This one can kill you if you keep stepping on it. No coins, no xp and your stat drops. You can reach the boss with stats much lower than the stats you had a few days ago)

Basic feature is level up permanent stats between battle using gold (not coins) after certain battles.
Has many other features but most are unlocked through highest stage cleared.
Many features are qualitative upgrades. Where they boost your combat ability much more than just levelling up your permanent stats.
Many are gacha related though so its hard to get what you need even after unlocked.
But the game seems to give lots of events which really helps to increase the number of draws, so making it easier to draw something nice eventually.

Btw, there are quite alot of options for ads but
- the ads are not disruptive to the game
- are kind of optional for if you want the rewards
So watch if you want, else skip if you don't need the stuff.
Though since the ads are optional, they are pretty long ads mostly

So far, has been the good features, except for the random part in battle.
If you lose, just level up and try again, hoping for a better tiles and skills next attempt.
Now, for the parts that made me give up, small though the flaw is.

Normally idle has this feel where
- login every few hours, grab the resources and either do a fast upgrade, or can just upgrade later
- when you are free, you can use the accumulated resources to push through the stages
This is NOT how this game works though [發困]

There is an idle part where after every few hours, you can pick up some gold, gacha draws and even limited paid currency in small amounts.
However, the game uses energy system with no Sweep. And coupled with the above description where its all about luck and running the battle multiple times in hopes of a good run to clear it. This means that you need to login every few hours to do a proper run or 2 which takes quite a bit of time.

So no "login, get rewards and logout".
Now, you login and do a proper battle which can take up maybe 15 minutes of your time.
This, doesn't really feel like idle.

So frankly, being force to run a 15 minute battle multiple times a day, not only
- kills the idle vibe
- makes it more repeatitive as some runs are just resource farming. So the novelty wears off fast
- requires alot more investment of time, equivalent to a core or fav game but does not give the satisfaction of those games
(think of favourites like genshin, tower of fantasy kind, where you sink in hours. But even those, you can do in 1 run rather than short bursts + forced to every few hours)

Summary:
Fun game where a little tactics and lots of luck makes each run unique.
Lots of optional ads which are non-distruptive. Meaning you can play the game without watching any ads at all.
But the idle aspect kind of sucks. Needing proper investment of time every few hours a day.

黑色沙漠 MOBILE | 國際版

Extremely beautiful games, especially considering that it was developed so long ago.
However, performance is shit.

After install, I was prompted to download 17gb worth of updates and asked where to download it to. I chose external memory (sd card I guess?)
- now, if this affects performance, then please prompt and warn or just don't ask
- but since no warning, I would guess its only download before applying patch? So should not affect performance
Then I finished downloading the patch and reached login screen.
Now, since the patch was so big, I downloaded it when I was busy doing other stuff so I can play when I have free time. As such, I closed the game once the login page is prompted. Pretty reasonable if you ask me.

Now the start of hell. After I finally have the time to play, I opened the game and...
Please download 17gb update files.
A huge smack in the face, wasting my data and my gaming time.
But fine, I really want to try the game so I downloaded it and this time, I actually login and play.
Game was abit laggy but I assumed it is because I just downloaded the updates. Like maybe the memory for the patch is still clearing so system is busy. Fine.

After I off the game and relogin afew hours later...
Loading was super long, but luckily there is no redownload of 17gb. *whew*
Then the gameplay. the result is still as lag but in weird ways.
- battle is ok, no noticeable lag
- each menu press results in the game freezing afew seconds before the page opens. Like your skills, the shop, etc etc
- each level up similarly freezes the game afew seconds

Next is game quality.
I learnt a skill's addon which heals 420 hp per hit, based on the description.
Actual healing is only 60 hp wow
Game recommends a seasonal char for new and returning players I think?
Seasonal char has extremely fast growth. (unlike the complains on playstore about slow lv up) and only 1 per account, I think? There are also lots of freebies and perks.

Now, fast level up sounds nice. Really.
But that is if you already know the game and wish to skip.
Similar to my other game reviews, I would say that if a new player skips the levelling and story process, the game is basically shit.
The developers are saying their game design is poor enough that one needs to be boosted to by pass the offending gameplay. Not even worth playing properly based on the developer's opinion right? Else why skip such enjoyable parts?
- of course, returning players, those with an already end game char, replaying might be boring.
- but note, this is not offered to a player with end game char. This is offered to a new player

So summary
- had to redownload 17gb update a second time for some weird unknown reason
- long loading times
- lag/freeze on menu clicks and level up
- wrong game description
- super xp boosting even for new players. (basically game developer saying their main game content is not worth playing)

Some of these are issues one would expect of a newly released game like NTE, not a game that has been released for so many years.
And xp boost is just saying their early game content sux.

So, how can this stupid 17gb game be even worth playing with all these flaws?

暗黑破壞神 永生不朽 | 國際版

So, whille trying to find new games, I finally decided to try Diablo Immortal.
And well, its... generic?

Yes, the game is well crafted.
The movements are smooth and the attacks does not feel as clunky as diablo 1 and 2.
- I did not try the other diablo games so no idea on those
The grahpics look polished and there are also many classes to choose from.

However, the issue is in the features.
What makes it stand out?

In terms of skills, you get it all.
No longer is it getting skill points and assigning like in Diablo 2.
As you level up, you meet the requirements and the skills get automatically unlocked and upgraded.
There does not seem to be synergy between skills like the later updates of Diablo 2.
It makes sense, since you don't need to choose skills, this feature would seem weird.
Skills are entirely based on class and no getting skills from other classes

Stats are... erm...
Almost does not exist?
You do get some stats from equipment like strength and such.
But I don't see where to assign stats. (just googled and it says there isn't)

So yeah, having played many games, Diablo immortal really does not stand out.
In Toram Online, you can use skill points to learn skills between different classes. Is basically a classless game where you are what you equip and what stats and skills you choose.
Even games which focus on other features like Once Human, your playstyle is based on your weapon and deviation choice.
There is an element of planning and customizing. The sense of being unique, even if not the strongest. Like a sense of "this is me".

Diablo Immortal however, probably goes for the format of rushing to max level and farming the best equipment.
There is still an element of customize but is strongly affected by gacha, mainly the stats (not type) of equipment dropped. So is just farming equipment over and over?
Without actually needing to plan?
Not sure how that makes one's character unique though?

So yeah, a well crafted game for mindless hack and slash.
It looks good, plays well, but feel so empty.

Worse than ancient.

The joystick is static (or can be turned off)
And movement is either joystick or clicking on the floor

Graphics is sub par and old.
And somehow still lags in some areas like summoning stuff.

Gameplay is... no idea.
Quest are all kill 1
Yes kill just one enemy each.
So is like boosted to high levels?

Alot of gacha mechanics implemented.
Where you need to collect materials and re-roll for crafting skills or upgrading some passives.

Frankly, I don't even know what I am playing.
Like why 1 kill? Is the game so tedious that cannot grind properly?
Then again, mp recovery is slow so you can't really use skills for farming.

Also, I don't see a method to change class or mix class skills like it was hinted in playstore.
Oh and last thing is... classes are gender locked. No changing of gender for the char and class.

Raid of the Brave

Raid of the Brave

3.8

A moderate experience.

The graphics is 2.5d, meaning it is like diablo 2 where there is 3d movement but you cannot rotate the camera. And slightly small and pixelized.
Still, is an acceptable level of graphics.

Classes and skills can be reset or changed with minimum to no cost.
You get lots of gold daily and the gold needed to reset is but a scratch on that amount.

Screen feels cluttered, affecting my joystick movement.
But you can close some sub menus which helps, though not fully

Feels laggy especially when I fight against those small armies to unlock stuff.
Lag is worse when entering multiplayer dungeon as a team.
So I lose while feeling that I might win if no lag, only to lag and lose again on the next try.
- though this might be optimized later or might just be my phone or network

Can't feel the heal as a priest.
I don't really see the hp go back up in battle. Rather, at best I feel like the dmg taken slows down? The heal does work but it just feels underwhelming
- note the word is "feels", it is not tested nor quantified as being too small

Too many upgrades
As you progress, you stack upgrades over upgrades over upgrades.
Such as equipment,
then enhance equipment,
then star up equipment,
then add gems,
then upgrade gems,
then upgrade pets,
then upgrade your tier,
then upgrade your class tier,
etc etc etc

Anyways, I initially just thought that the excessive upgrades just makes the char feel overpowered for those willing to put in the effort or money.
But after reaching lv 40+, I can see that without proper upgrades on all layers, it becomes difficult to win even against enemies lower level then you.

Best yet, equipment will need to be replace at every 10 levels (I think?)
So the star up and stuff, more than half will need to redo for a higher tier equipment instead of inheriting like when changing to the same tier of equipment.

Equipment kind of forces your skill sets.
Equipment at yellow rarity have set bonus to specific skill damage.
So you need to collect equipment of the same set and pair with the compatible weapon and glove to get the maximum damage.
But you would also need to get the correct attributes for the equipment. (For me is hp).
So grinding is required to some extend, though some people simply park their char next to the boss then afk for hours.

In all, the game is quite ok. Fun but not exceptionally so.
When I encounter the lag and upgrade amount, it tilted my favor just abit to quit/uninstall.
However, if your network is fast and you don't mind a little grind. This game is worth a try.
- pretty fun for me too before I hit the issues mentioned

Quirks: opening screen was in chinese for me and it demands my name to be chinese char. Everything else is in english though. (if you use english settings I guess?)
But strangely I do see players with names using english characters so....
Not sure if it is playstore that detects wrongly and gave me the wrong version?
Or maybe those english name players are using apple phones?
Hmmmm?

星球:重啟 | 繁中版

Autofiring is not working for me so my review is based on that.
If it works for you, it might be more fun.

Being my 4th survival game, the 1st and 2nd had game breaking bugs. And the 3rd, Once Human was pretty fun but having stuff reset kind of demotivates me from farming.
So I tried this game.

So, if the enemy units do not run around too much, firing manually on mobile isn't too bad.
Like undawn, when I fought some human npc, they will slowly straft so you don't really need to make big turns to target them.
- not like older PC games Counterstrike and stuff where they do duck walks side to side at fast speed lol
But for other games like Once Human or monsters in lifeafter, monsters move fast so having to target them is a pain.

So picture this
- left finger : moving your character
- right finger : turning the screen to target
- ?? finger : press to shoot

So if you need to manually shoot, you got to stop targeting and press.
Slower moving enemies are not a problem but if you have realistic monsters who move diagonally (or stupid bosses that dash around), after a few shots, you will need to retarget. Not only that, once you stop targeting to press the button to shoot, the enemy will not quietly stay still and may move away. Better yet, some weapons have recoil so the cursor keeps moving up. And it does not come back down automatically after you stop firing. Means you would need to adjust your targeting even if the enemy sits there dumb as a rock.

So for mobile, auto firing becomes a must have if there are enemies that move fast.
And in Once Human, I have experienced how it really helps, even if its still hard to target then run due to the fixed turning speed of the screen.

Now, back to this game.
Earth Revival does have a menu item for "Autofire".
But for some reason, it does not fire when the cursor is on the enemy.
Not too sure if its a bug on me only or if other mobile players also experience it.

So based on my experience above, playng the game without this feature although possible, is a pain. As such, I give the gameplay a 2 out of 5
- at least I can still fire the weapon unlike one of the other survival game which use rapid fire turret to disable all my attacks making it unplayable at all

Will be uninstalling after this review.
Game looks fun but truely seems hard if It bugs out like this even at the beginning

AnimA

AnimA

4.0

Feels like a Diablo 2 inspired game. But somethings are done better.

My review is later, so unlike earlier review, there is now gender select.
Game is fully free to play without needing to buy package.
- though there are options to buy for wings and stuff

One of the things I notice is the summon of necromancer.
The units are more and based on your stats, so i grows with you, unlike Diablo 2.
Also, when the units teleport to you, they might teleport onto the air. This might sound like a bug or flaw, but... It actually helps enable your units to gather around you easily unlike Diablo 2 where the units get stuck alot in tight places.

The skills and areas to clear does feel alot like Diablo 2. Different but with strong similarities I guess?
The equipment and stats are different though. More simplified I feel.
And the level limits are much higher.

Main drawbacks
1) achievement rewards are given once per account. Means get extra skill points or stats are only once. So if you apply it to a character you built wrongly, Too bad
That said:
- stats potion supposedly can be found later but rare. Based on what I googled?
- You probably don't need so many skill points anyways. You can equip 4 skills max and the passives are few. Though some skills receive passive buffs from others, it is also few. So not having enough skill points is probably rare end-game

2) The game warns you when taking a 2nd class that it is not reversible.
Though really, if you have never tried a class before, how to know if it is as you expected?
So the warning is useless. better to give me a free reset or something
Though there actually is a 2nd class reset item but... the cost is really high for a newbie. And its newbies that make the mistake most

Oh and the mistake I made was, using cleric spell holy bolt (was it?) with my necro summons.
Now, I expected the spell to hit an enemy then bounce to heal my summons.
Turns out, it targets the closest which usually is my summons, so in the end, the skill almost never hits the enemy. Kinda useless since is better to nuke the enemy than heal minions that get resummoned on enemy death

All in all, a pretty fun experience for a solo game.
There are game rankings and seasonal rewards.
Oh an also, free players only have 2 character slots. FYI

My review will be from the perspective of a casual gamer.
Meaning that I do not rush for end game PvP yet still enjoy learning the mechanics and exploring the game and the game's world.

For the start, the tutorial is kind of overwhelming.
You get a handgun and start fighting enemies that move fast and mini boss that deal quite alot of damage.
Here I learn about the usefulness of auto firing, something I would prefer not to use in other zombie games. However, it becomes a necessity when playing Once Human on mobile due to the mobility of the enemy.
Also, boss and mini boss deal alot of damage, so its kind of a shock when I am just in tutorial.
However, it seems that you are given auto revive while in the tutorial, giving you a chance to learn how to fight without dumbing down the difficulty.
(I know PC might be easier or that Pros will find it easy but I am new to this >_>)

Story wise, I googled online and it seems the tutorial story was changed so it does not really explain the story as well anymore. I also feel its abit weird like how after the tutorial areas, you are called "MayFly" but without an explaination on it.
So yeah, story is abit... off or disjointed?

Finally the good part
1) The game does not rush you to level up.
No more super xp boost where 1 mission boost you afew 10 levels
No more limited time reward for newbie progress.

2) Food, water and basic resources are easy to get, though you may need to learn the mechanics abit. You may also wish to learn how to move your base so it is near food, water and ore, so you can resupply easily. Its one of the top right buttons when you enter build mode in a different area.
(Also, yeah, I guess base and stuff will be different in harder modes but I am still learning in novice area)

3) There isn't a rush to progress.
You can slowly learn the mechanics by reading and trying things out.
The boxes respawn (online says is every 4 hours?) so you can clear each area a few times. Allowing you to get used to combat, try out weapons and accumulate resources to become stronger.

4) resources are limitless.
Even the research part, you can recover furniture from the areas cleared and convert them into research points. So no locking you out

5) True multiplayer.
You can see other player's base on the map and sometimes run into other players too.
But being in novice zone, for now, the number of players I see is few.

Also, there are 2 modes.
The one with the bus stop is the story mode with different zones.
Click the top left button and there is a PvP zone.
To my knowledge, the story area has no PvP, so it will be less stressful.
While those who rush end game, will probably join the PvP servers

After trying a few zombie survivor game, this has been one of the best experience.
At least for the beginning.
After all, I am still in the novice zone bumbling about.
Though the game mechanics is alittle more complicated than I would have expected and preferred.

黎明覺醒:生機 | 東南亞版

Similar to Life After but so far, no game breaking bugs.
But there is still non-newbie friendly.

Here is how it goes:
- you as a newbie are given a huge xp boost. (Sounds good?)
- Level in game does not directly translate to higher attack or defence
- Daily quest under "Schedule" are based off level
- Level does unlock crafting of higher level equipment but you will need time to farm and gather

Basically it means that you will be forced to fight high level enemy with low level equipment.
Well, unless you are a returning player and know tricks a newbie does not know.
Or you have someone to carry you?

Either way, the point is that it is extremely non newbie friendly.
But at least no game breaking bugs.

NTE: Neverness to Everness | Global

The "Value" in the review is rated on my own experience.
For those with more powerful mobile devices or playing on other platforms, it will probably be a different story.

The game has beautiful graphics. The music and sound are pretty nice although the voiceover can sometimes be alittle off-key.
Battle system is hack-n-slash with dodge and counters. Also, you can switch char mid battle for some combinations.

Now, before even going into the game features, the thing that is first shoved into my face is LAG.
For a game that features high speed action and requires dodge and counters, LAG is a fatal flaw.
The game jerks or becomes blurry, making the movement awkward and the battles difficult to react to. And even if you can fight well, you probably will not enjoy it with these flaws.

Next is the features of the game.
Which sadly, I do not know.
It lags so much that I seriously am not sure I want to continue playing or not.
Given that similar battle systems are already available in other games.

I will give the game a day or two to see if any updates improves the quality of the game before uninstalling.
After all, with a download exceeding 16 gb (and that is just 1 of the patches, not the inital installation nor the later updates), I would expect that the game would execute a little more smoothly.

明日之後 | 國際版

(Not worth playing for new players. Check the updated info at the end of the review)

An old zombie survival game where you salvage craft and fight.
I just started but I read that there was a revamp in the graphics, so thats a good thing I guess?
Mechanics look interesting such as hunger depleting on actions instead of by time. So you can actually look at your menu, inventory and stuff to learn and plan.
(unlike other games where just taking a short break will cause your hunger to go down by half)

Now, the bad part.
For all its wonderful graphics and game mechanics, the game seems designed to confused every new player.

For starters, they introduce you to cooking. So you can cook after that right?
WRONG!
The campfire will be removed and you cannot craft the furniture needed to cook.
You have to progress the story untill quite abit later to craft the furniture.
So don't be an idiot like me running around trying to find a place to cook the few meat I managed to scrape off the boars around the house.

Abit later in the story, you get introduced to Dailies.
And guided to some terminal to do some quests.
Now, that sounds normal, except the terminal does not prompt you on the mission.
The monsters are overwhelmingly powerful and unlike what you play until that point of time, its a mini game to hide and trigger/remove some goo. So sneak around.
But for a newbie? Run in and have no idea why they cannot win.

Shortly after that you return to base and after planting some berries, you find your weapon slot with some turret thing. Cannot shoot, cannot unequip, cannot change to other weapons. And suddenly there are zombies surrounding your base which used to be safe omg.

So I got busy and needed to stop at this point. Will try to learn how to use that turret later.
But as you can see, the game seems intent on making life miserable for a new player.
Moreover, there are way too many prompts about quests or something and the battle system using a gun? The cursor moves much slower than a zombie who for some reason has enough brains to zigzag towards you.

So yeah, it looks fun, if I ever get to properly learn how to play.
Or would I just throw my phone in a fit one day and cry as I uninstall the game thorugh the cracked screen of my poor phone. [不滿]

(Updates):
So I checked, googled and even went on discord to ask.
It seems that I got the turret before unlocking the feature, wow.
I reported it in support but until it gets fixed, I will keep the "Gameplay" and "Value" in this review as 1, given that new players will get bricked from playing the game.

Once this bug happens, you cannot fight at all given that the turret cannot be used and you cannot change into another weapon. So new players, good luck.

天天玩樂園

天天玩樂園

4.5

I found this game after heartopia, strange though it may be, given that this game is older.
The reason is lifestyle and luck. When the game was released, I was too busy and did not see the ads. So missed out on it.
And so, I will give a comparison after a basic review.

The game is a social game. Not sure if is called cozy.
The game is filled with stuff to do. Including
- furnishing your house
- having pets
- crafting
- farming
- delivery
- fishing

There are also multiplayer stuff like
- zombie house (my fav)
- racing
- climbing a tower (or was it more like obstacles), hate this one
And more, since I barely tried it out

There are also stuff like
- ferris wheel
- boat rides
- cinema

You can also customize your char with faces and costumes. (no gender lock)
And well, I saw someone starting fires so... might have more mini activities.
Is basically a whirlpool of activities that I will need to slowly discover

Now, some comparison with heartopia
- graphics : heartopia is definitely nicer. The faces are also dynamic compare to this game where the face is fixed, like applying a mask.
- heartopia can build houses but this game you only get to furnish it.

- social wise, heartopia is kinda solo. You do interact with others but the town is limited to a fixed number of plots. (Was it 12 ?) So that is the limits on the number of players you can see on your map at each point of time. (and not all are active or interactive)
Compared to this game, the number of players running around is far larger. Feels more like a real community.

- performance, heartopia's beautiful graphics and house customization comes at the cost of performance lag. Your system slows down, the game goes buggy and stuff sometimes disappear. They even had to reduce the range furnitures are rendered. Meaning, stand too far and the furniture goes poof.
Where as for this game, the game runs smoothly even with so many players running around.

- gameplay wise, the approach of both is different.
Heartopia is goal driven. You rush to complete quest to get limited currency. Then when quests are done, farm for resources to sell to earn gold to buy the expensive plots of land. Usually it involves gathering mushrooms and cooking.

For this game though, the number of things you can do is truely overwhelming. To the point where you don't really finish up a set of goals and move to farming. Instead is more of spontaneity. One moment your char wants to go to school. The next moment your pet needs a bath. You click on an npc you passed by and take on a quick quest. Then fish for abit before the next yearning of your char kicks in guiding you to yet another location you did not know. The hotel, the sewers, the cinema and more. For me at least, there really isn't something to focus on and leaves me rushing around in a daze

To summarize the gameplay:
- heartopia has a fixed number of things to do daily and leaves you alone to do stuff. Most of which involves either farming for gold or building your house.
After which, one is usually left empty wondering what else to do and what for.
- in this game however, it is more of an experience. There is no lack of things to do, so there isn't a need to try completing everything as it is impossible. Instead of a planned progress, it is more of an exploration and experience with both the world and the people in there. Npc or players.

If we were to compare, though both games are similar.
Heartopia will cater to those who love beautiful graphics and designing of art.
While this game will instead cater for those who crave social interaction. A world where you are never really alone yet are allowed to do what you wish. Without the need to be bound to goals planned by the system and developer.

Or so I feel anyways

Guild of Monster Girls

Grahpics is cute though pixelized. And combat is the kind where 3v3 units taking turns to hit each other. As such, can be said to be visually pleasing but alittle old.

Game play is exploring a map and fighting mosters.
Unlike other games where you walk around a map, the map is presented as a grid.
You click on a square to "explore" if and receive rewards.
Some grids may contain chest, monsters, monuments for buffs and larger structures which represent monsters hiding.
There will be 1 big structure with a boss sign, clicking that will allow you to fight the boss and is the main requirement for most maps to get 3 stars.

Maps can be cleared in 1 tap by spending 50 energy. Not sure how it affects the loot though.

Now on to the gacha mechanics. Don't run away, its not as bad as it sounds.
1) star up of units is done using shards. When you gacha, duplicate units will give shards depending on the rarity. So lowest rarity = 1 shard, highest = 50 shards.
Meaning, you don't need to pull high rarity duplicates to star up. Just gacha normally.
- and so once you get the "increased chance" hero in gacha, its best to just switch to a new one. Else kinda wasteful, just abit.

2) There is a support feature where you can use another unit's 3 stars or above ability on your main team's unit. As such, even low rarity units can be useful.
(Not sure if their stats are inferior or not, but some skills are definitely worth getting)

3) Talent uses a rare resource to "gacha" or well, reroll basically. The bonus are pretty nice but you sometimes get the wrong one on the main units.
Well, you can spend some gems to switch it between chars using the alchemist.
- I did not know initially. Basically in the guild, you can actually scroll up to see an alchemist

4) max level is based on how many weapon types you have obtained and star up. Basically, unlocking the codex level = higher max level.

To summarize, it is pokemon style, gotta catch them all lol.
Every unit gives you a potential to add to your main team.
Equipments are not too hard to farm and having more units is useful unlike other games that discards or make useless lower rarity stuff.

Also, an extra point (5)
The game has many buffs based on the char's skills, passive, equipment, talent. (Maybe more?)
These buffs should counter another buff (theortically, but I am noob so hard to explain)
So you got to mix and match the char, have a little lucky rolls and make a unique team of your own.

Btw, I first went for a mage mushroom as my choice of high rarity unit.
This one is so weird.
- mage but skill is team (not self) heal + recover mp)
- has high dmg reduction skills
- talent, by luck, rolled high dmg reduction if on the front line
Now, I put her infront to soak dmg and as her mp recover on hit, will cast her skill to recover team's mp.
So weird

Mini Games in qooapp sux Tried the mini games. Extremely buggy.
Even new developers would be ashamed of releasing such untested code.
Can't believe that they are rewarding us to try it out.
At least, they are smart enough not to allow us to rate or review those mini games.
Else the developers of those games might get shamed to death. Literally.
